Prescriptions:

The heat dome in the southwest … was a doozy. It cooked up a brutal early Spring wakeup call that makes ya worry about the impending summer sizzle. I avoided the oven-like heat by elevation and glamping – plugged in the air conditioner at a KOA for a week in Kingman (3,500’) while I sorted through more of my dad’s last effects.

Such, I’ve revised my route to Los Alamos. My new plan is to not travel south through the fire of Phoenix and east to Los Alamos, but rather north to cool Utah and east along state lines. This path creates distance from the dome’s southeast vector (like a kid with a magnifying glass burning up ants). I’ll have fresh forests and high deserts to camp along the way. Leaving here (Pahrump) on the 2nd of April, or as soon as a UPS delivery lands. Storms have streamed into the west from the Pacific so it’s cloudy today. I would not be surprised to get a dusting of snow on my new route – which is way better than the heat!

My success in beating the weather comes from RV-ology – chasing 70°F being one of the prescriptions. I think I’ve mentioned this before – RV rules rock!

The week I spent here was filled with many memories and laughs with my BFF Brian and his dear wife Susan. We celebrated his birthday – no candles though, the number is beginning to feel ridiculous. While hanging around, I watched him poke around in the giant garage upgrading various items on his RV. It’s his happy place, along with the shaded front porch where we talked over coffee and pastry. It’s a blessed life. He’s found the prescription.

And so, turning as I always do to the spiritual side of life, I ask the obvious – is there a divine prescription meant to bless us? Yes, there is.

In general, any soul that seeks goodness will find it, even in this life. And the evil seeking soul will easily find evil. These are divine yet general prescriptions – seek it and find it.

But for the believer in Christ, prescriptions are more specific and powerful. First, following Christ is not simply about acquiring a better and blessed lifestyle. No. We are (wherever we are on the planet, and whatever the situation) ambassadors. Now we can be excellent ambassadors, or we can be diplomatic dodos. The choice and consequences are yours.

Our divine prescriptions are and will always be: The Gospel (1 Cor 15:1-4), The Milk (Heb 6:1-3), The Keys (2 Pet 1:5-8), and I think The Song of great hope (SOS 1-8).

And so, there is no need for any new doctrine or method other than what the Apostles and Christ provided in the first century. And anyone bringing anything extra has rejected these divine prescriptions in favor of peddling the snake oil of modernity.

The Gospel is free and full of everlasting life (John 3:16).
The Milk is pure and primary sustenance for life (1 Pet 2:2, 1 Cor 3:1-2, Heb 5:12).
The Keys lead to love and fruitfulness in life (2 Peter 1:5-11).
The Song does not disappoint in this life or the next (1 Thessalonians 1:3 and 10).
