First Stop

Lake Mead at Boulder Beach. The water level is low, but it makes for a dreamy sunset pic. Enjoy the photography by brother Jonathan who came by to visit yesterday with BBQ, and fellowship in Christ. I love this brother who has gained much along the narrow path, but I must admit it was a little lesson for me in hospitality. More on that below.

The weather here is fabulous, it feels more like early Spring. I’m working on a deep tan, shore walking and watching white gulls flock across sky blue water. I’m also talking to the cute hummingbirds as they zoom among the transplanted eucalyptus trees in the natural field of creosote bush sloping down into the lake.

The campground is sparsely reserved, and so it’s quiet with few campfires. The calm is stirred by daily helo flyovers in friendly predictable patterns – tours of the nearby Dam, and the odd jet headed the other direction while powering down to glide into Vegas. After sunset, the dark night sky shows off the Mazzaroth, clearly, and I find myself recalling the gospel story it tells. Wrote about that secret in book 2 of 4 – Pair The Song, from The Draw Me Away series, fyi. Whew! That was a wild little veer though my mind. Hahahaha, hold on.

Getting here? I did head to Tacoma, California, for the hot springs, but roads were closed after rainstorms – “stuck in mud” would be easy with this delivery van – thanks Promaster for never upgrading the chassis suspension. So instead, I made my peep visits in Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City. Love my peeps. I have not yet made it out to visit mom and dad memories at the Veteran Memorial Park as planned. Maybe I’m stalling? I will go; it’s only a few miles away. Dad passed on last year, January 19th, mom in 2012, on January 26th. Helen my first wife, also, 2014 January 19th.  What’s up with January?

Looking ahead, I still plan to go south across Hoover Dam to hike down one of the Black Canyon hot springs. Glamping at Willow Beach RV Park, or dry camping BLM dispersed land just outside of Lake Mead National afterwards could be a favorable setting for writing.

On that note, I put some mind to listen to The Spirit about how to frame my next book and came away with good direction. I’ll be emphasizing The Kingdom of Heaven, so as to orient anyone reading and believing The Gospel of Light to realize they have entered another kingdom, Christ’s Kingdom, an infinitely higher realm, which trumps every other contender trying to dominate their world. My hope is that this will engage believers to fit themselves more carefully into the new reality rather than be fooled by all the traditions of men – basically any church with paid pastors and pews. (I’ll address this point in my next blog.)

Back to brother Jonathan. He gave me space that afternoon to practice my hospitality. I’m not unfriendly but van life camping has a pattern which rarely includes company – an easy rut. I’m human. And today’s online surfing then landed me on this meme; LOVE CANNOT COME FROM A DISTANT PULPIT OR FROM A LECTURE. True! Love comes from practicing some hospitality, and following the steps listed for the keys of the kingdom of heaven, 2 Peter 1:5-11. Of which, you might read about in Kingdom Access – Genuine Keys. TTFN!
