Wild Bill

Wow! Bill is far sharper than most believers (introduced him in my last blog). What a pleasure conversing outside the suburban coffee shop on a breezy Wednesday evening. We talked it up near an hour – standing, my feet didn’t tire. Christ and His Father were our lovely subjects, and how us earth folks perceive the message. Reminded me of this verse.

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. – Colossians 2:3 KJV

And … ya do meet lots of peeps out camping. Some just want to see the cool camper-van, others are tweakers eyeing loot. Hunters don’t blink at gear but look you square in the eye. Ya just never know, might be a wonderful elderly couple sharing cookies and camping stories late into the eve. Or a cagey gal who arson-ed her RV for the insurance claim. I watched the whole thing unravel, even used up my extinguisher. She feigned plausible deniability to the assembled responders (Ranger, Firemen, Cops) all standing around a rig melted down to the dirt. All kinds of peeps out there! I’ve hiked with guys far into a wild wilderness, guys I just met at a campfire the previous evening! So yes, I carry a gun, for two reasons – being cornered by a wild critter or crazed criminals. At 66 it would not take much to prematurely plant me. Even so, the first round is all salt and just hurts – real bad, the rest are showstoppers – let’s pray it’s never needed.

Now, stealth camping in a city is statistically more dangerous than the above, so they say. I do see many folks living out of cars, on benches, in bushes, or exiting buses to case-out the shopping center – and in the rich suburbs! Gets interesting if you dare camp the inner city.

Point is that Wild Bill looks like one of the scarier characters – can’t judge a book by its cover. … I was never cruel, but the former me may have never given Bill the time of day. What’s happened? Might be finding my best self van life-ing. Thank God, since out here my mission requires meeting folks to talk about The Gospel, The Milk, The Keys, and The Song.

On that note I can report that the two young men I’ve been walking through Campfire Wisdom are coming along swimmingly! One can recite the gospel, the principles, the keys, and we’ll be diving into the song next week. He asks intelligent questions (high levels of application seen in this one – wondering what calling Father has for him.) I want to watch it develop. The other is reading up The Milky Way and journaling copious notes! He’s also upped our schedule to more meets per week.

BTW, Campfire Wisdom is free and can be yours too. Just sign up on the splash-page.
